One of the things I want to do as i grow older is see as many ballparks as possible. I try to see my favorite teams in as many different parks as possible (Atlanta Braves and Texas Rangers). In 2024 I was fortunate enough to take off and spend a few days in St. Louis where I got to see Busch Stadium for the first time, while they played my favorite team the Atlanta Braves. So, until the 2025 season starts up again here in America and I can get to new parks, I am going to go down memory lane and review some of the ones I have been to already starting with the now defunct Lake Olmstead Stadium.
This was the former home of the Augusta GreenJackets of the Single-A Carolina League. I drove through in 2013 and saw them when they played in the South Atlantic League. Back then they were a part of the San Francisco Giants farm system. Today they are actually a part of the Braves system.
Looking back, the GreenJackets actually won the Southern Division that year. They would lose to the eventual champions in the first round of the playoffs, but they also had a few players that would go onto play in the big leagues including Matt Duffy, Trevor Brown, Joe Biagini, Steven Okert, Kendry Flores, and Chris Stratton.
I could not find a boxscore for the game, but apparently they beat the Greenville Drive 2-0 that day with Steven Okert getting the save.
Here are some photos I took of the stadium. Enjoy!
