As we head into 2025, let us take a look back at the 2024 league winners from around the globe.
Europe
Germany – Bonn Capitals
We will start in Germany where the Bonn Capitals returned to the top of the table with a victory over Guggenberger Legionäre. It was the Capitals 2nd title in the past 3 years and 3rd title over all (2024, 2022, & 2018). The German Bundesliga has been dominated by Bonn and Heidenheim with only the 2 teams winning a championship in the past 8 years.
Italy – Parma Baseball
The 2024 Serie A winner was Parmaclima Baseball taking the title over San Marino. Parma has a great history in Italian baseball beginning in 1949. It was Parma’s first championship since 2010 despite appearing in the finals in 2018 and 2022. San Marino has appeared in the finals 6 of the past 7 years winning just 2 titles. This was Parma’s 11th title.
France – Rouen Baseball
Rouen continued its dominance of French baseball with another Division 1 title in 2024. It was the team’s 18th title in its short history. Rouen started playing baseball in 1986. It took 17 years to win its first title (2003), but since then they have rattled off 18 titles in 21 seasons.
Austria – Diving Ducks Wr. Neustadt
The Baseball Budesliga champion for 2024 was the Diving Ducks Wr. Neustadt for the second year in a row. The team began play in 1987 and has seen a lot of success in recent years. The team’s first title came in 2021, and now they have followed up with back-to-back championships.
Belgium – Hoboken Pioneers
This was the Pioneers 9th title in the Belgian First Division and 3rd in the past 4 years. They defeated the Deurne Spartans in the championship. Since 2018 either Deurne or Hoboken has won the title.
Czech Republic – Draci (Dragons) Brno
The 2024 Czech Extraliga championship went to the Dragons Brno taking home their 25th title. They have won 25 of the 32 titles in the Extraliga including the last 3. Of the 7 they did not win, they finished runner-up 4 times. In 2024 it was an all Brno final with the Dragons defeating the Hippos.
Netherlands – Curacao Neptunus
The Neptunus just finished off their 20th title in the Honkbal Hoofdklasse. It was the team’s first title since 2018. They will look to bring back a 21st title to Rotterdam in 2025.
Poland – Stal Kutno
The 2024 title was the 3rd straight for Kutno and the 21st for the most successful team in Polish history. Kutno will face off with the likes of the Barons Wroclaw as they look for their 22nd league title in 2025.
Spain – Valencia Astros
The Valencia Astros took home the 2024 Spanish Baseball League title. It was the team’s 3rd title since its inception in 2000. They also took home the top prize in 2016 and 2020.
Switzerland – Therwil Flyers
The Therwil Flyers won the Swiss National League title by sweeping the Zurich Barracudas. This was the NLA club’s 16th title. The club has won 50 combined titles from all levels of baseball and softball.
United Kingdom – London Mets
The Mets won their 11th title (and 8th in a row) taking home the National Baseball League title. They will look to defend their title once again against the likes of the London Capitals and the Essex Arrows.
