Germany: Solingen Starts Strong in Title Defense

The German Bundesliga is off and running now two weeks into the season. So far there are three teams that remain undefeated with the perennial powers still going strong.

North Division:

In the North, defending champion Solingen is at it again starting off with a 4-0 record. After an opening weekend sweep of Dortmund, the Alligators came back this past weekend to sweep Paderborn. They lead the league along with the Bonn Capitals who also sit at 4-0.

Solingen will host Hannover this coming weekend. Hannover sits at 2-2 tied for third early on with Dortmund.

Solingen is winning at the plate so far in the early season. They lead the division in home runs (3), runs (25), walks (16), and average hitting a stout .418 so far. Bonn is right behind them in many of those categories hitting a strong .390 so far in the early going.

On the other hand Hamburg has struggled at the plate. They have yet to score a run in four games and are hitting just .078. They also lead the league in strikeouts with 25.

South Division:

Regensburg is once again at the top of the standings as the only undefeated team so far in the South. Heidenheim is right behind them and will continue to challenge them all season. Heidenheim dropped their first game of the year against Mainz, but has since righted the ship and sits at 3-1.

We are two weeks away from the first meeting between Regensburg and Heidenheim.
