Caribbean Series: Venezuela Downs Puerto Rico in Game Two

The first day of the 2015 Caribbean Series is in the books with Mexico and Venezuela picking up wins. In Game 2, Venezuela downed host Puerto Rico 5-2 behind the strong pitching of Daryl Thompson.

Thompson tossed 6 innings allowing just one run on three hits while striking out five. Thompson spent most of the 2014 season pitching for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the independent Atlantic League.

Giovanni Soto (AA CLE) took the loss for Puerto Rico. The young lefty had a good 2014 season out of the bullpen for AA Akron. The 23-year old native Puerto Rican tossed four runs giving up all five runs.

Offensively Alexi Amarista had a great day at the plate. He tripled in a pair of runs going 2-for-4. Niuman Romero also drove in two runs with a double going 1-for-2.
