Round 2 Teams are Set at 2013 IBAF 18U Baseball World Cup

TAICHUNG, Chinese Taipei – The first round of the 2013 IBAF 18U Baseball World Cup is over. After being delayed by rain for two straight days, the teams played five games in four days in a round robin format. The top three teams in each group have advanced into the second round where they will carry with them their record against the teams in their own group and will now play a game against each team from the other group. At the end of the round, the two teams with the best record will play for the title.

There were no upsets on Wednesday, but there was a good close game between Cuba and Australia. Cuba took an early 3-0 lead but Australia staged a comeback in the seventh inning scoring twice. However, that was as close as they would come falling 3-2.

Advancing to the next round are Japan, Chinese Taipei, and Venezuela from Group A. Cuba, South Korea, and the USA advanced from Group B. Four of the six teams were in the second round last year. Venezuela and Cuba replaced Canada and Colombia in this years round 2.
