Germany: Solingen Alligators Win North Division

The Solingen Alligators won the German Baseball League North Division over the past weekend. The Alligators took two games from the Berlin Sluggers without allowing a single run. After the sweep the Alligators will be the #1 seed heading into the playoffs and now await the end of the South Division schedule to see who they will face in the first round of the playoffs.

A day later, the Bonn Capitals, knowing they needed a sweep to finish in 2nd place, took two games from the Cologne Cardinals allowing only one run themselves. They finished a game ahead of the Paderborn Untouchables for the 2nd seed and now await the conclusion of the South Division schedule.

Moriz Buttgereit homered and went 2-for-4 to help lead Solingen to the win in Game 1. Robin Dragon drove in three runs going 2-for-3 as the Alligators pounded out 13 hits in the game.

Dustin Hughes (2.o IP/0 hits), Andre Hughes (3.0 IP/1 hit), and Theon Bourdaniotis (2.0 IP/2 hits) combined to shut out Berlin in Game 1 of the doubleheader.

Dominik Wulf had a big day in Game 2 for Solingen. He went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Travis Bass (2-for-5), Sascha Steffens (2-for-3),  and Julian Steinberg (2-for-5) all added a pair of hits.

Nick Renault had a great game. He picked up the win pitching 6.2 innings giving up just one hit while striking out eleven. At the plate he went 2-for-2 with a double

In other North Division action:

Eric Krzysiak homered, doubled, and drove in three runs going 3-for-4 in Game 1 for HSV. He went 2-for-5 in Game 2 scoring four runs.

Brehan Murphy also went 3-for-4 with three RBI for HSV in a Game 1 win over Dortmund. He doubled three times. He went 3-for-4 again in Game 2 with another two RBI.

Brent Buffa went 2-for-3 and pitched a complete game win for HSV in Game 1. He gave up one run on six hits while striking out eight. In Game 2, he homered, drove in four runs, and went 3-for-4.

Rene Herlitzius went 4-for-4 in the Game 2 loss for Dortmund.

Harry Glynne tossed a four hit shutout for Paderborn in Game 1. He struck out nine in seven innings.

Jendrick Spear went 3-for-4 driving in three runs and scored two more in Game 1 for Paderborn. He went 2-for-4 in Game 2.

Matt Martin scored three runs and went 2-for-4 for Paderborn in the first game. In the second, he tripled twice going 2-for-4.

Mathew Hewitt tossed a complete game four hitter for Paderborn in Game 2 of the weekend. He struck out four and walked three.

Florian Nehring homered twice, including a grand slam, in the first game for Bonn driving in five runs. Then he went 3-for-4 in the second game.

Bradley Roper-Hubbert also homered in Game 1 for Bonn going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Jan Jacob hit a solo home run for Bonn in Game 1.
