Telemarket Rimini took home the championship at the European Cup in Barcelona, Spain on Sunday with a 6-2 win over the Dutch club Corendon Kinheim. A day after both teams won one-run games to reach the championship, Rimini used an error to score three unearned runs in the third inning and held on to win the championship.

In those three innings, Bazardo gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits. Rimini got two great relief appearances from Carlos Pezzullo (2.0 IP / 1 hit / 0 runs) and Enorbel Marquez (4.0 IP / 1 hit / 0 runs). Marquez picked up the win.

Corendon Kinheim starter Leon Boyd lasted just an inning. Boyd came back on three days rest needing 30 pitches while allowing two runs on two hits. Jean Paul Gulinck took the lost after pitching 4.1 innings. He gave up four runs (one earned) on seven hits.

Leonardo Zileri (1-for-4) came up with a big two-out single to drive in the final two runs of Rimini’s three-run third inning. Mario Chiarini had a nice day at the plate going 2-for-4 scoring a run. All of Rimini’s 10 hits were singles in the game.

Ramiro Balentina (2-for-4) doubled hitting the only extra-base hit of the game for either club in the loss for Kinheim.

The win will put Telemarket Rimini up against fellow Italian Baseball League foe Unipol Bologna in the European Championship later on this summer in August.
