The Hong Kong Baseball Association has announced that the “Asia Insurance Phoenix Cup 2013 – IBAF Hong Kong International Women’s Baseball Tournament” will start this weekend. The tournament will run from January 18-21.
Played at Hong Kong’s Sai Tso Wan Baseball Field and Lion Rock Baseball Field, the women’s tournament is running for the sixth straight year since 2008.
Seven teams will compete including Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, and Taiwan.
Last year the Shilin High School of Commerce from Taipei defeated the Far-East Bombers from Japan for the title.
The Far-East Bombers have been dominate in the tournament in recent years. Every year they finish 1st or 2nd with three titles in the first five years.
