Relativity Media has secured the rights to produce a film about the life of Josh Hamilton. The film will be written and directed by Casey Affleck, according to deadline.com.
Josh, and his wife Katie, will be co-producing along with manager Steve Reed. The executive producer will be Thunder Road Picture’s Kent Kubena.
Hamilton is currently a free agent after having spent the last five seasons with the Texas Rangers. He was the first overall pick in the 1999 draft by the Tampa Bay Rays, but after an injury early in his career he became involved with drugs and alcohol which slowed his progress to the big leagues.
He was the 2010 AL MVP and helped the Rangers make back to back World Series appearances in 2010 and 2011.
