Baseball Canada announced its 20-player roster for the upcoming 18U Baseball World Championships being held in Seoul, South Korea from August 30 to September 8.
Canada will compete in Pool B in which they will play a round-robin with Chinese Taipei, Czech Republic, Italy, Japan, and Panama. They will start the tournament August 30th against Panama.
The selection process for the team began in March with a 10-day camp in St. Petersburg, Florida. Further camps were held in April and May with the final selection coming from a camp in Toronto and Ronchi dei Legionari, Italy.
The team features nine players selected in MLB’s June draft. Also nine players are returning from the 2011 team that finished 2nd at the Americas 18U Qualification Tournament in Cartagena, Colombia.
Canada is coming off a 4th place finish in the 2010 18U Baseball World Championship that was held in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
