The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) announced the schedule for the upcoming Asia Series to take place in Busan, South Korea in November.
The Asia Series will take place November 8-12 at Sajik Stadium in Busan. There will be six teams in the tournament. The respective winner of the leagues in Korea, Australia (Perth Heat), Japan, China, and Taiwan along with the host Lotte Giants of Busan will all compete for the title. If the Giants win the Korean title, the runner-up will play in the series.
The six teams will be divided into two groups. The two groups will play a round-robin with the top two teams meeting for the championship.
The winning team will receive 500 million won (US $440,500) in prize money with the runner-up receiving 300 million won.
Last year the KBO’s Samsung Lions defeated Japan’s SoftBank Hawks to become the first non-Japanese team to win the Series in its short history.
