EASLEY, South Carolina – The Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA gets most of the TV coverage and the big headlines, but soon another World Series in the Little League family starts, the Big League World Series.
Big League baseball is the oldest division in the Little League family for boys and girls ages 15-18, and every year the World Series is held in South Carolina. The World Series will begin on Wednesday July 25th with 11 teams from around the world taking part.
The tournament consists of 6 teams from around the USA and 5 international teams. The representatives are:
Asia Pacific – Muntinlupa, Philippines
Latin America – Maracaibo, Venezuela
EMEA – Buttrio, Italy
Canada – Windsor, Ontario
Puerto Rico – San Juan, PR
USA Central – Indiana
USA Southeast – Florida
USA Southwest – Laredo, Texas
USA West – Anaheim, California
USA East – Cumberland, New Jersey
A team from South Carolina also plays every year as the host team to round out the tournament.
The teams will play a round robin format with the top two teams in each pool (USA and International) advancing to the semifinals. The tournament runs for a week with the championship game on Wednesday August 1st.
