WILLIAMSPORT, Pennsylvania – After Chinese Taipei became one of the first teams to advance to the 2012 Little League World Series, Uganda became the first African nation to advance to Williamsport defeating Kuwait 5-2 in the championship game of the MEA Regional Tournament.
In other action, Curacao defeated Puerto Rico 10-1 to win the Caribbean Regional Tournament. Curacao rolled through the tournament outscoring their opponents 65 to 7.
In the Latin American Regional, Panama defeated Venezuela 6-5 to advance to the Little League World Series. Four of the five games Panama won were close games. They won three of the games by a single run and another by only 3 runs.
In the Japan Regional Tournament, a team from Tokyo Kitasuna Little League defeated Matsusake City 11-0 to advance. Kitasuna won the final three rounds of the tournament by 10 or more runs dominating the competition.
The eight American regional tournaments and the Canadian regional will take place in early August. The Europe and Mexico regionals will start this weekend and end the following weekend. After which each of the regional winners will play in the 2012 Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA from August 16-26.
