Belgium: Rematch of Last Year’s Belgian Series Ends in Split

BELGIUM – The Hoboken Pioneers and the Namur Angels battled to a two-game draw this past weekend in a highly-anticipated rematch of last year’s Belgian Series.

American Jake Hummel went 5-for-7 at the plate and tossed seven strong innings as Namur (5-1) captured an 18-10 slugfest in the series opener. However, Kenny Van Den Branden threw a complete game four-hit shutout as the defending league champion salvaged a split with a 3-0 victory.

The Mortsel Stars (2-4) knocked off the Royal Greys, 16-6, in the first game of a two-game set before falling 6-1 the following day.
