Belgium: Hoboken Splits with Namur Angels

BELGIUM – The Hoboken Pioneers continued their quest for a third consecutive Belgian League title with a two-game split against the rejuvenated Namur Angels this past weekend in the first round of the playoffs.

Hoboken (6-2), which swept the Angels earlier this month to open the postseason, dropped the first game on Saturday, 8-6. However, the two-time reigning league champion bounced back the following day to claim a hard-fought 3-1 victory over second-place Namur (4-3).

The Merksem Royal Greys resuscitated their finals hopes with a sweep, 13-2 and 10-1, against the Borgerhout Squirrels. The Royal Greys will next face Hoboken in a crucial two-game set while the Squirrels (1-6) will clash with the Angels.
