Belgium Wins 2011 ECQ-Belgium

BELGIUM – Terrence Antonacci threw five innings of one-run ball and Belgium booked a ticket to the 2012 European Championship with a 7-1 victory against Austria Saturday at the European Championship Qualifier in Antwerp.

Antonacci (2-0) allowed two hits, a walk, and five strikeouts en route to his second win of the week-long tournament. The host nation finished the event with an unblemished 5-0 record and outscored opponents 50-11.

Most Valuable Player – Dennis Ribbens, Belgium
Leadoff hitter batted .474 (9-for-19) with four walks, four steals and three RBIs.

Best Pitcher – John Dobkowski, Poland
American right-hander tossed a complete-game as Poland tripped Austria, 6-1.

Best Batter – Lukasz Nolbrzak, Poland
Batted .750 (6-for-8) with a pair of walks and three RBIs.
