Brother Elephants Release Tracy Thorpe

TAIWAN – The Brother Elephants of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) has released American pitcher Tracy Thorpe reports Pro Baseball Taiwan. Thorpe (0-2) appeared in seven games out of the bullpen and finished with a 2.33 WHIP.

Carlos Castillo, who is currently on the Elephants minor league roster, is the leading candidate to replace Thorpe in the bullpen.

The Sinon Bulls have added American pitcher Lindsay Gulin, who beat the La New Bears 2-1 in his CPBL debut Sunday in Kaohsiung, while the Bears have signed left-hander Luis Villarreal.

A trio of Americans – Glenn Steele, Tony Torchia and Billy Champion – are assisting CPBL teams during the 2010 season.

Steele is the strength and conditioning coach for the La New Bears, while Torchia and Champion are the hitting and pitching coach, respectively, for the Uni-President Lions.
