SPAIN – FC Barcelona catcher Orlando Diaz and Viladecans shortstop Camilo Gonzalez are this week’s BaseballdeWorld Spanish League Co-Players of the Week.
Navarra staff ace Juan Jose Lopez turned in a dominant outing to claim Pitcher of the Week honors.
Diaz (pictured) played a major offensive role in Barcelona’s rare sweep over the Tenerife Marlins last weekend. The 23-year-old backstop batted .545 (6-for-11) with a double, home run and six RBIs.
Gonzalez also enjoyed good success in the batter’s box to help Viladecans gain a split against the Valencia Astros. The 26-year-old shortstop went 6-for-10 (.600) – including a triple, homer and two doubles – while driving home four scores.
HITTING HONOR ROLL:
Elvis Polanco, UT, El Llano
32-year-old utility player went 5-for-8 with a run and three RBIs.
Rafael Rivas, LF, Sant Boi
27-year-old left fielder was 5-for-8 with five runs and a double.
Sandel Cuevas, 1B, Valencia
27-year-old went 4-for-8 with a double, homer and seven RBIs.
Lopez (pictured) tossed a one-hit shutout over seven innings to lead Navarra to a 5-0 win against Vigo.
The right-hander (2-1), who will celebrate his 31st birthday on Friday, limited opposing hitters to a fourth-inning double while striking out 15 and issuing one intentional walk.

Jason Friedman, FC Barcelona
25-year-old allowed one hit and a run in 8-2 win over Tenerife.
Junior Guerra, Sant Boi
25-year-old fanned 11 and gave up one run in 8-1 win over San Inazio.
Marcos Castillo, Pamplona
31-year-old struck out 13 in 6-2 win over El Llano.
