CUBA – The Cuban Baseball Federation announced Monday that Industriales catcher Lisvan Correa, who tried to assault Sancti Spiritus pitcher Yasniel Sosa with a bat, has been suspended from the remainder of the playoffs. Sosa, who drilled Correa with a pitch, was dealt a three-game ban.
The two players ignited a brawl in the final inning of Sancti Spiritus 8-1 win Sunday night which had local police struggling to defuse the volatile situation. Five other players were also ejected from the game.
The two squads are deadlocked at one game apiece with Game 3 slated Tuesday at Latinoamericano Stadium in Havana.
