UNITED STATES – All-Star outfielder Manny Ramirez will headline the Los Angeles Dodgers squad that will play in a series of exhibition games called the MLB Taiwan Games this month in Taiwan, the club announced Tuesday.
Taiwan’s first major leaguer Chen Chin-feng played for the Dodgers for parts of four seasons (2002-2005).
The Dodgers will battle a squad of Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) All-Stars in a Goodwill Series featuring three games from March 12-14 at Taipei City’s Tienmu Baseball Stadium and Kaohsiung County’s Chengcing Lake Baseball Stadium.
Joining Ramirez will be multi-titled skipper Joe Torre, South Korean Hyang-Nam Choi, and Taiwan natives Hong-Chih Kuo and Chin-lung Hu.
The roster, consisting mostly of young players and non-roster invitees, is subject to change before the Dodgers depart for Asia on March 10.
