SPAIN – The Atlanta Braves have added two more prospects, outfielder Deion Galvan and catcher Roberto Machado from the Tenerife Academy. The pair were signed by Johnny Almaraz, the director of international operations for the National League organization.
Galvan went 2-for-5 in three games for the Tenerife Marlins in the Spanish League last season, Machado was a member of the junior national team during the European Championship last year in Bonn, Germany.
The talented pair will join former academy members Ruben Rijkhof and Alejandro Sanchez Martinez in the Braves minor league system. Due to the four signings, there is a lot of interest from young players all over Europe in taking part in this year’s camps to learn from the coaches and improve their chances of signing a professional baseball contract.
