UNITED STATES – The one new name on the Winnipeg roster has been joined by two that are familiar.
Manager Rick Forney announced today the signing of southpaws Zach Baldwin (pictured) and Ian Thomas. Both were with the club in 2009 and, along with outfielder Aharon Eggleston, bring to three the number of players under contract for 2010.
Baldwin, 26, is 9-11 with a 4.34 earned run average in two seasons with Winnipeg. Used primarily as a starter in 2008, he saw more time out of the bullpen last year and that saw his ERA drop by just under a full point. In 94 career appearances, he is 14-22 with a 4.20 ERA.
Thomas, 22, joined the Goldeyes midway through the season straight out of school. In 11 appearances, all in relief, he finished 0-1 with a 2.81 ERA.
FISH FOOD: As of Wednesday morning, fewer than 20 spots remained for the Goldeyes Holiday Skills Camp for boys and girls ages 7 to 12 set for Saturday, December 19 at the Duckworth Centre.
