DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – Danesi Nettuno (Italy) infielder Abraham Nunez (pictured) had a pair of hits, including an RBI triple, and the first-place Escogido Leones captured its fourth consecutive win with a 2-1 victory against Estrellas in the Dominican Winter League.
Pittsburgh Pirates farmhand Brian Myrow had a single and a double for Estrellas, which suffered their fourth straight setback.
Escogido starter Nerio Rodriguez scattered a run and five hits in 6 2/3 innings to lower his ERA to 3.00.
Toros 6, Gigantes 4
A two-run shot by Cubs prospect Nelson Perez propelled the Toros past Gigantes which suffered their 11 straight loss on the road.
The Toros managed just four hits in the game and overcame a strong performance from Brewers farmhand Erick Almonte, who drove in three runs for Gigantes with a pair of base hits.
Licey 8, Aguilas 2
Texas Rangers highly-touted prospect Julio Borbon crossed the plate three times and the Licey Tigers beat Aguilas.
The reigning Dominican champion also got a three-run homer from Dodgers farmhand Hector Luna while free agent Kevin Barker drove in a pair of scores.
