GERMANY – Reigning Dutch Major League champion DOOR Neptunus will host one of two European Cup tournaments in 2010, while Czech Republic powerhouse AVG Draci Brno will be the other host team next summer.
The top two squads from each of the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB) competitions will advance to the European Club Championship Final Four in Barcelona, Spain from Sept. 25-26.
A pair of Italian Baseball League teams, Telemarket Rimini and T&A San Marino, will arrive in Rotterdam (Netherlands) as the biggest threat to Neptunus.
The Pirates claimed a share of the IBL regular season title in 2009 while San Marino reached the Italian Series for the second consecutive year.
Other squads competing at the European Cup in Holland includes Spanish champion Tenerife Marlins, Belgian title-holder Hoboken Pioneers, and French runner-up Savigny Lions.
Defending IBL champion Fortitudo Bologna and Dutch runner-up Konica Minolta headline the teams competing at the European Cup in Brno, Czech Republic. Other clubs includes French heavyweight Rouen Huskies, German champion Heidenheim Heidekoepfe, and Spain’s Sant Boi.
