SOUTH KOREA – The Kia Tigers unleashed a 15-hit attack and extended their winning streak to five games with a 12-2 rout over the LG Twins on Tuesday at Jamsil, Seoul. The Tigers, who currently lead the Korea Baseball Organization standings, improved to 53-37-4 on the season.
Choi Hee-sup did the most damage with a pair of home runs and six RBIs as Kia beat LG for the third consecutive time. Jang Seong-ho had three hits and Kim Sang-hyun added two hits for the Tigers.
Yang Hyun-jong allowed just two runs in eight innings to earn the win, while Kim Kwang-su was charged with the loss.
DOOSAN BEARS 12, LOTTE GIANTS 4
Five players collected two or more hits and the Doosan Bears trounced the Lotte Giants 12-4 at Masan. With the win, the Bears remained on the heels of league-leading Kia with a 52-39-2 record.
Doosan, paced by Kim Hyun-su’s five-hit effort, roughed up Lotte starter Son Min-han for five runs and eight hits in just three innings. Hong Sang-sam tossed six shutout innings to pick up the win.
SAMSUNG LIONS 6, HANWHA EAGLES 5
Brandon Knight pitched just good enough to win his first start in the KBO and Samsung edged Hanwha in a see-saw affair at Daegu. Choi Hyung-su led the way for the Lions offense with 3 RBIs.
SK WYVERNS 9, HEROES 8
Jeong gun-woo drove in the game-winning score in the bottom of the ninth to help SK complete a 9-8 come-fom-behinf win against the Heroes at Incheon. Wyverns plated two runs apiece off relievers Lee Bo-gun and Joon Jun-ho over the final two frames to improve to 11-4-1 against the Heroes this season.
