USA – Home Run King Hank Aaron will be among the roster of dignitaries who will address players during the 17th annual RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) World Series, which is kicking off on Tuesday in Jupiter, Florida.
Aaron will be among the speakers at receptions hosted throughout the 11-day national tournament, which features 24 teams from around the country. The program is designed to increase participation and interest in baseball for youths and minorities—one of the primary issues Aaron is working on.
The Senior baseball championship will air live on MLB Network on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET and the softball championship will be taped to broadcast on Aug. 23 at 1 p.m. ET, also on MLB Network. Those two championship games and the Junior baseball championship game will be streamed live on MLB.com.
Others scheduled to speak include Bob DuPuy, Major League Baseball president and chief operating office; Sharon Robinson, daughter of baseball legend Jackie Robinson; and two former Major Leaguers who serve as special assistants to Marlins president David Samson — Hall of Famer Tony Perez and 1987 National League MVP Andre Dawson.
