USA – Mattingly Sports, a leading baseball and softball equipment company founded by MLB legend Don Mattingly, has unveiled its new Mattingly Training Bases.

The one of a kind, patented training item helps coaches and parents teach kids correct, safe offensive and defensive footwork on the baseball and softball diamonds. The product is another key addition to the company’s innovative product line which already includes the patented V-Grip Handle line of baseball and softball bats and “9X SERIES” Fielding Gloves.

The Little League licensed product consists of (3) uniquely marked base covers, one for 1B, 2B and 3B, which feature color coded areas indicating where a player should step on the base for various plays such as rounding first base or turning a double play at second base. Proper offensive footwork positions are simply and clearly indicated in blue and defensive footwork positions in red.

“Over the years I have seen so many games won and lost on the base paths,” said Don Mattingly, Founder – Mattingly Sports. “Regardless of how long you have played the game, I can’t stress enough how important it is to continually practice proper footwork on the diamond. Our Training Bases help players accomplish this in a simple and safe way.

“We at Little League are always looking for innovative ways to teach children the games of baseball and softball,” said Nick Caringi, senior director of operations. “The simplicity and effectiveness of this base-running training aid for beginners will make it commonplace on many baseball fields in the coming months and years.”

The new Training Bases covers are made of durable cotton canvas material and fit over most 14” – 15” bases. The product utilizes a loop cord locking system to fasten to both anchor and non-anchor bases. Mattingly Training Bases are available on the company’s website: www.MattinglySports.com and later this year at major sporting goods retailers.

“This new product clearly represents our commitment to providing the marketplace with fresh, new innovative products” said Skip Shaw, CEO – Mattingly Sports. “As a company we strive every day to develop and market baseball and softball equipment that helps increase the level of enjoyment kids have playing the game.”
