TAIWAN – KC Kao doubled and homered and the Uni-President Lions outscored the Sinon Bulls 13-12 Friday night in the Chinese Professional Baseball League.
In a contest which featured a trio of six-run outbursts, the reigning CPBL title-holder started the fireworks in the third to grab a 6-0 advantage. But Sinon answered back with five scores in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 6-5.
The Bulls built a 11-6 lead with a six-run fifth, and crossed the plate a final time in the eighth to pad their lead to 12-7. However, the Lions tagged reliever Kuo Yung-Chih with four runs in a six-run rally in the ninth to complete the improbable comeback.
Kao, who tallied four RBIs, was one of five Lions’ hitters to have a two-hit game.
Chen Chih-Wei was 4-for-5 with a trio of doubles and three RBIs for the Bears, and Cheng Da-Hung added three hits, a homer, and four RBIs.
Chang Chih-Chiang (3-1) picked up the win out of the bullpen despite allowing a run on one hit and two walks in just a lone inning.
Kuo (0-1) was charged with the loss after get rocked for four runs on three walks and four hits in just one inning on the mound.
LA NEW BEARS 9, BROTHER ELEPHANTSs 0
Aaron Rakers threw six shutout innings and Chen Chin-Feng hit his 16th home run of the year as the La New Bears blanked the Brother Elephants Thursday night.
Lin Chih-Sheng went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs while both Yu Chin-De and Chung Cheng-Yu each had two base hits.
Brother shortstop Liu Keng-Hsin led his team with three hits and a stolen base.
Rakers (7-2) continued his winning ways limiting the Elephants to four hits while striking out five in another impressive outing.
