TAIWAN – Lin Chih-Sheng tied a Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) record with his ninth home run this month and the La New Bears inched closer to the top of the standings with a 11-3 rout Monday over the Brother Elephants.
The Elephants touched La New starter Chang Chih-Chia for a first-inning score to take a quick 1-0 lead. The score remained unchanged until the Bears chased Brother starter Dan Core with three runs in the fourth, and blew the game wide open with an eight-run sixth.
Lin had a 3-for-4 effort at the plate with two RBIs, while Chen Chin-Feng and Shih Chih-Wei belted their fourth and second long balls, respectively. Shih drove in four RBIs and pinch-hitter Tseng Hao-Chu collected two RBIs.
Chu Hung-Sen, Chen Jui-Chen, and Peng Cheng-Min each had two hits apiece for the Elephants.
Chang (3-1), who fanned five, allowed two runs and six hits in six innings to notch his third win of the year, while Core (0-2) dropped his second decision after giving up three hits and two runs in only three innings of work.
