USA – The Laredo Broncos of the United League are pleased to announce the signing of former United High School standout baseball player and former Tecolote of Nuevo Laredo, Andres Santos to their 2009 Roster.
Santos played six seasons with Nuevo Laredo and compiled some great numbers while playing left field for the Tecos. Santos also was part of some very successful United High School baseball teams in the early 90’s under former head baseball coach Arturo Contreras. He is slated to be the everyday leftfielder for the Broncos in 2009.
Laredo Broncos General Manager Jose Melendez said that “Andres Santos has been the holy grail for the Laredo Broncos since our inception in 2006. We have been trying to sign him since our first season but he has always had better offers in the Mexican league.”
“I am very happy he has come to terms with us and I am looking forward seeing him play for us this season,” added Melendez. “This is a great signing as we are always looking for local talent that can compete at this level, and Santos fits that bill and beyond.”
The Laredo Broncos begin their fourth season at Veterans Field with their home opener on June 15th.
