USA – The Lake Erie Crushers are pleased to announce the addition of Josh Blackstock to the roster for the 2009 season. A versatile player, Blackstock could play either infield or outfield for Field Manager John Massarelli and is a likely candidate to lead off for the Crushers on Opening Day on June 2.

This past season, Blackstock played for the Chillicothe Paints of the Frontier League. He had a solid season, batting .251 in 75 games played. He accumulated 41 runs, 65 hits, seven doubles and 33 RBI. He also led the league in walks with 69.

Blackstock played for the Tarrant County Blue Thunder of the Continental Baseball League in 2007. Batting .373, he earned the league batting title and helped his team to a league championship. Offensively, he led his team in runs (47), doubles (12) and triples (2), and was second on his team in hits with 53.

“Josh can be used in the outfield or infield,” says Field Manager John Massarelli. “He is the prototypical leadoff hitter, who gets on base and is a sparkplug offensively.”

The Lake Erie Crushers are the newest expansion team in the Frontier League, an independent professional league with 12 teams throughout the Midwest. The team will open its Inaugural Season on June 2, 2009 at All Pro Freight Stadium, the new 5,000 capacity ballpark located at the intersection of I-90 and Route 611in Avon.
