USA – The GBL Champion Orange County Flyers have announced that they will hold their 2009 Spring
Training Camp this May at Fullerton Junior College.
First-year Manager Phil Nevin will bring 34 players to the camp which will start May 10th and conclude May 20th – one day prior to their 2009 Opening Game May 21st in Tijuana, Mexico against one of the newest members of the Golden Baseball League – the Tijuana Potros.
The Flyers will be bringing in 25 players who are under contract along with 9 invited players – all competing to make the 2009 squad. The nine invitees include players who were selected from last week’s Tryout Camp.
“We are pleased to be training so close to home and want to thank Coach Nick Fuscardo and his fine school for their hospitality,” said Flyer President/GM Alan Mintz.
Orange County will open the 2009 regular season in Tijuana with a 4 game series before heading to Chico, Tucson, Victoria, and Calgary.
The Flyers have their Home Opener June 9th against Victoria and it will be a special event with the presenting of the 2008 Championship Rings, Fireworks and more surprises!
