SPAIN – The Spanish League club El Llano have announced the signing of two pitchers, Javier Samboy
and Gabriel Camino, for the 2009 season.
Samboy is from the Dominican Republic and is a former New York Mets farmhand who has pitched in both the Italian Baseball League (IBL) and Taiwan’s Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL).
The 33-year-old has also played with the Dominican national team in several international tournaments, including the Intercontinental Cup.
Camino, just 19-years-old, played for the first division club Vigo Hawks last season and is returning from an arm injury.
San Inazio Signs Former FC Barcelona Pitcher
Venezuelan pitcher Andoni Ortiz has signed with San Inazio after just one season with FC Barcelona. The 25-year-old went 1-2 a year ago with a pair of saves and a 3.09 ERA in 14 games.
In 2007, Ortiz appeared in three games for Spanish powerhouse Marlin Puerto Cruz, and is also a veteran of the Venezuelan Summer League.
