SOUTH KOREA – Cleveland Indians’ outfielder Choo Shin-soo has finally joined the Korean national baseball team’s training in Hawaii. The budding major league star was originally expected to join the team just before the opening of the World Baseball Classic in March.
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) Secretary General Ha Il-sung said this past Monday, “We received the good news from Cleveland yesterday.”
The Indians were previously against the idea of Choo’s joining the Korean training camp and rejected the KBO’s request on the grounds that Choo needs to undergo rehabilitation on his left elbow. However, the KBO was persistent in asking that Choo be permitted to practice for at least four days, and the Indians brass finally agreed.
The Korean national baseball team will train in Hawaii from Feb. 15 to 28.
