TAIWAN – The defending Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) Champion Uni-President Lions have signed first baseman Kuo-Ching Kao to a multi-year contract that will make him one of the league’s highest paid hitters.

Kao, who batted .332 last season with 28 doubles, seven home runs and 74 RBIs, will earn 350,000 NT per month over two years.

The Lions finished with the best overall record (67-33) in the CPBL during the regular season and earned a first-round bye in the 2008 CPBL Playoffs before defeating the Brother Elephants in the 19th Taiwan Series to capture the league championship.
