USA – Missouri State head baseball coach Keith Guttin has announced a “Meet the Baseball Bears Night” scheduled for Saturday, January 31, to kick off the 2009 season. The event will take place at the Hammons Field indoor training facility from 7-9:30 p.m.
The 2009 Bears will sign autographs and give out schedules along with current and former Bear major
leaguers Brad Ziegler, Shaun Marcum, John Rheinecker, Scott Bailes, Jason Hart, Bart Evans, Ross Detwiler and possibly others. There will also be a short program directed by Art Hains.
There will be a silent auction of sporting and non-sporting memorabilia along with other giveaways. A menu of ballpark food along with soft drinks will be provided.
Tickets are $20 dollars each and must be purchased in advance. The deadline for ticket sales is January 26. All proceeds from the event will go to help defray medical expenses for Nolan Keane.
Keane, MSU’s starting right fielder the last three years, has been undergoing treatment for cancer since December.
