New Texas Collegiate League Club Named The Generals

USA – Victoria’s entry in the Texas Collegiate League will be known as the Generals.

The Victoria Baseball Club announced Friday that the name had been selected from those submitted on the team’s Web site.

The team colors will be red, white, blue and gray, according to Brad Haynes, vice president of baseball operations for the Victoria Baseball Club. Haynes said the team is currently designing a logo.

The Generals will become the fifth team in the wood bat league that also includes teams located in McKinney, Coppell, Kilgore and Bryan. The season will begin in June and the Generals are scheduled to be play 24 homes games at Riverside Stadium.

The Generals’ next order of business will be naming a manager before beginning to recruit players.

The Generals are conducting a season ticket giveaway. Fans can go to the team’s Web site at www.baseballinvictoria.com and register. The winner will be selected in May.
