THE NETHERLANDS – American Rod Delmonico has been named Manager of the Dutch National Baseball
Team reports the Dutch baseball site, Grand Slam Stats and News. He replaces Dutch native and former New York Yankees infielder Robert Eenhoorn, who led the national squad since 2001 and announced his resignation earlier this year.
Delmonico’s assignment becomes effective on January 1, 2009. On the same date, Eenhoorn will assume his new position as Technical Director of the Royal Dutch Baseball and Softball Association (KNBSB).
The 50-year old Delmonico will head the Dutch team for the first time during the World Baseball Classic in March. He is the 14th American, who will lead the Dutch national team, since Ron Fraser became the first in 1960.
