DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – Escogido Leones manager Bienvenido Figueroa submitted his resignation on Tuesday after the struggling Dominican League team suffered their third consecutive loss. Escogido, which is currently four games behind league-leading Cibao,is sitting in fifth-place with a 11-14 record.

Leones general manager Ramón Rocha issued a statement thanking Figueroa while announcing that Luis Natera would serve as interim manager for the rest of the season. Figueroa took over the team for the final 11 games last season but was unable to steer Escogido into the playoffs.

Natera, who was in his first season with Leones as its bench coach, has previously coached the Cibao Giants and the Orientales Stars.
