Venezuela – The Venezuelan squad of 13 and 14-year-olds went undefeated to claim the Youth Pan
American Championship recently on their home soil. The tournament host overcame an early 3-0 hole to dispose of Panama 8-4 in the title matchup to finish with an unblemished 6-0 record.
Panama placed second with a 4-2 record with both losses coming at the hands of Venezuela, and Brazil took home the bronze medals with a 5-1 win over Ecuador to end the tourney with a 3-3 card. Ecuador (1-4) claimed the fourth spot while winless Colombia (0-4) finished fifth.

Venezuela Blanks Brazil
Ronald Gimenez smacks two home runs and Rougned Odor and Ronny Mejias add a long ball apiece as Venezuela scored six runs in the opening frame en route to a 11-0 lopsided win. Jesus Rivas tossed one-hit ball over four innings with nine strikeouts and four walks to earn the win.
Ecuador Routs Colombia
B Letamendi stroked a double and a home run and Ecuador capitalized on 13 walks to roll past Colombia, 16-4. Letamendi (1-0) also picked up the win in relief working two scoreless innings while giving up one hit and fanning four.
October 20
Panama Slips Past Brazil
R Barnett homered and drove in a pair of runs to help Panama overcome an early 6-0 deficit and claim an 8-7 come-from-behind victory against Brazil. R Aguilar (1-0), the fifth of six pitchers used by Panama, was credited with the win after working a 1-2-3 sixth inning.
Venezuela Demolishes Ecuador
Victor Sanchez threw a no-hitter and Venezuela uncorked five home runs to rout Ecuador 11-0. Sanchez (1-0) struck out eight and allowed just one baserunner, S Navas, who was hit with an errant pitch.
October 21
Panama Rolls Past Ecuador
Panama scored six late runs to break a 4-all deadlock and pinned a 10-4 loss to Ecuador in a matchup that featured seven home runs. R Arauz (1-0) struck out 15 to get the win over Ecuador which swatted four of their five hits out of the yard.
Venezuela Pounds Colombia
Linyker Acevedo and Brayan Rivera (1-0) combined for a no-hitter and Venezuela posted their third consecutive shutout with a 12-0 drubbing of Colombia. W Garcia homered and had three RBIs and Humberto Arteaga crossed the plate three times as Venezuela raced out to a 6-0 lead and breezed to the easy win.
October 22
Panama Trounces Colombia
Panama feasted on five pitchers for 17 hits in a 16-1 mauling against winless Colombia. F De Leon worked three shutout innings and fanned six to earn the win while D Murillo, P Urena and J Gonzalez each homered for the Panama.
Brazil Clobbers Ecuador
Rafael Moreno and Vinicius Batista combined for a no-hitter as Brazil blanked Ecuador. An error by shortstop Lucas Samper foiled the perfect game bid for Moreno (1-0) who had seven strikeouts in four innings while going 3-for-4 at the plate.
October 23
Brazil Stomps Colombia
Lucas Samper and Victor Saito each had three hits and Brazil built a 9-0 lead after three innings to keep Colombia winless with a 11-5 victory. Vinicius Batista (1-0) scattered six hit and two runs over 3 1/3 innings to register the win.
Venezuela Scorches Panama
Obian Gonzalez belted a pair of home runs and Venezuela scored in every inning to knock off Panama, 13-2, in a battle of unbeaten teams. Rougned Odor and Ronald Gimenez also went yard for Venezuela and Adonis Cardona (1-0) struck out four of the six batters he faced to record the win.
October 24
Panama Edges Brazil
R Barnett drove in two runs and Panama survived a late charge by Brazil to claim a 3-2 win. J Batista (1-0) surrendered two runs on four hits while striking out 11 in six strong innings to nail down the win. R Arauz struck out the side in the final inning to record the save.
Venezuela Tramples Ecuador
Kevin Canelon and Brayan Rivera combined for 11 strikeouts as Venezuela blanked Ecuador 13-0 to register their fourth shutout in five outings. Canelon (1-0) threw one-hit ball over four innings while netting nine strikeouts as Venezuela plated 12 runs in the first two frames to put the game out of reach early.
October 25
Brazil Topples Ecuador (Bronze Medal Game)
Reliever Vinicius Fukuda pitched four innings of no-hit ball to lead Brazil past Ecuador, 5-1. Fukuda (1-0) entered the game with a slim 2-1 advantage but racked up eight strikeouts while limiting Ecuador to just one baserunner to nail down the victory.
Venezuela Outclasses Panama (Gold Medal Game)
Franco Pizzoli homered twice and unbeaten Venezuela overcame a 3-0 hole to capture the tournament championship with an 8-4 win over Panama. Pizzoli went 3-for-3 as Venezuela smacked five homers in the last three innings to complete the comeback victory. L Acevedo (1-0) allowed a run on three hits with seven strikeouts in five innings to notch the win.
