JAPAN – Shugo Fujii got the job done with six-plus savvy innings and Jason Botts sealed it with a two-run homer as the Nippon Ham Fighters beat the Orix Buffaloes 7-2 to win the first stage of the Pacific League Climax Series playoffs on Sunday.

The Fighters, who finished the regular season in third place, won the best-of-three series against second-place Orix with two straight victories and booked a meeting with the league champion Seibu Lions in the second stage.
