Neptunus Blanks HCAW In Dutch League

THE NETHERLANDS - Diegomar Markwell and Berry van Driel combined on a three-hit shutout and DOOR Neptunus steamrolled Mr. Cocker HCAW 8-0 on Saturday in Dutch Major League action at Rotterdam.

Rien Vernooij went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a pair of RBIs while Benjamin Dille, Martijn Meeuwis and Jeffrey Arends each had two hits apiece as Neptunus (27-10) tagged HCAW starter Forstin Coenraad (5-7) for five runs and six hits.

Markwell (9-4) fanned four in 7 2/3 innings allowing just three hits to register the win before giving way to van Driel who retired all four batters he faced with two strikeouts to preserve the shutout.

Kinheim Outlasts L&D Amsterdam

Corendon Kinheim unleashed an 18-hit outburst to overcome a 7-4 lead and deal L&D Amsterdam a 10-7 setback on Saturday at Amsterdam.

The Pirates touched Kinheim left-hander Patrick Beljaards for two runs in the first before rallying for five runs in the third highlighted by Bas de Jong’s grand slam. Beljaards (10-0) regrouped to toss two scoreless innings before departing with a narrow 8-7 lead.

Rene Cremer led the hit parade with three hits while six other players registered two hits apiece. Bryan Engelhardt belted a home run for Kinheim which also cracked four doubles and a triple. Kevin Miner (2-1) was charged with the loss after surrendering eight runs and 13 hits over four innings.

MediaMonks Rallies Past Sparta/Feyenoord

Mihai Burlea went the distance and Reggie Valpoort hit a grand slam to lead MediaMonks RCH to a 7-5 win against Sparta/Feyenoord on Saturday at Heemstede.

Valpoort’s big blow highlighted a five-run seventh that erased a 5-1 Sparta/Feyenoord lead. The left-fielder enjoyed a 3-for-5 game with two runs scored and four RBIs. Lex Leijenaar also had three hits including a double and reached base four times.

Burlea (4-4) struck out eight while giving up five runs on eight hits to record the win while Quinn Tramm (0-1) suffered the setback after replacing Tim Roodenburg to start the third. Roodenburg tossed two scoreless innings before departing with a suspected unknown ailment.

Pioniers Rolls Past ADO

Conrad Orman tossed six solid innings and Konica Minolta scored early and often in an 8-2 victory over ADO on Saturday at Hoofddorp.

The Pioniers (25-13) were led at the plate by Norbert Lokhorst (three hits), De Flanegin (two doubles), and Jeffrey de Vrieze (three RBIs). ADO starter Brent Henry (0-9) was saddled with the loss after giving up six runs and eight hits.

Orman (2-0) turned in his second consecutive impressive start striking out eight while limiting ADO to one run and four hits over six innings to earn the win. Robin van Doornspeek pitched two scoreless innings out of the bullpen before Tommy van Limburg worked the ninth giving up a run on a walk and a hit.
