USA — The Eastern League is pleased to announce that Casper Wells, an outfielder for the Erie SeaWolves, has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Month for the month of August.

Wells, who is a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, reached base in each of the 28 games that he appeared in during the month, recorded 11 multiple hit games and had two nine-game hitting streaks. Casper led the league in a number of offensive categories during the month, including home runs, RBI, runs scored, slugging percentage, total bases (86) and OPS (1.212). He also finished tied for the league lead in hits during the month with his teammate Will Rhymes.

Wells joined the SeaWolves on June 6th following a promotion from the Class-A West Michigan Whitecaps, where he was selected as a Midwest League midseason All-Star.

The 6’2”, 210 lb. slugger played in 75 games with the SeaWolves following his promotion and batted .289 with 18 doubles, six triples, 17 home runs, 60 runs scored and 53 RBI. Despite not joining the league until midway through the year, Wells still finished tied for 10th in the league in home runs.
