Fresno State To Visit White House

By admin on Monday, 1st September 2008 Fresno State To Visit White House thumbnail

USA – Fresno State’s celebration of the 2008 NCAA baseball title will continue well into the fall.

President George Bush has invited the Bulldogs to come to the White House and the team will meet with the President sometime between 1 and 4 p.m. on November 12.

The visit is part of a program to honor NCAA spring sports national champions. The Bulldogs were the first championship team offered an invitation. White House officials said President Bush, who is a baseball fan and former owner of the Texas Rangers, was excited about Fresno State’s “Underdogs to Wonderdogs” story.

“This is beyond our wildest dreams,” said head coach Mike Batesole upon accepting the invitation. “It’s a great tribute to these young men. It’s wonderful for our campus, city and the Valley. It’s surreal because you see other teams there at the White House, presenting the President with a jersey and taking pictures. It’s amazing that we will be a part of that.”

Bush will take photos with the team and is scheduled present a speech on the South Lawn with the team.

In addition to meeting with President Bush, the team will go on a tour of the Washington D.C. area and take a White House tour.
