USA – Two Yankees pitchers from the Dominican Summer League were suspended for 50 games on Friday for testing positive for banned performance-enhancing drugs under baseball’s Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
Justo Arias and Rafael Martinez of the Yankees tested positive for metabolites of stanozolol, according to an announcement made by the office of the Commissioner.
Another pitcher, Jhon Rodriguez of the Chicago Cubs organization, tested positive for metabolites of Nandrolone. The suspensions of Arias, Martinez and Rodriguez will be effective at the start of next season.
A total of 41 Minor Leaguers have received bans since July 25, including 33 from the Dominican Summer League.
