USA - The start of the 2008-09 school year and the approaching Labor Day weekend signals the end of the summer season, as several Butler baseball players concluded successful seasons in summer leagues across the country.

Senior right-hander Ryan Kruszka finished up a strong campaign with the Cincinnati Steam of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League, posting a 2-2 record with a team-best 2.37 ERA in 38 innings pitched. He also paced the squad with 39 strikeouts while walking only nine batters. With his help, the Steam claimed the league’s regular season and tournament championships.

Senior southpaw Joe Ochs was also one of his team’s top arms during the 2008 summer season. He finished the year with a 3-1 record and a 1.67 ERA in 27 innings of work while pitching for the Dubois County Bombers of the Central Illinois Collegiate League.

Additionally, a trio of Butler pitchers wrapped up solid seasons while playing with the Waynesboro Generals of the Shenandoah Valley Baseball League. Senior Evan DePotter posted a 4.22 ERA in 10.2 innings, senior Jeff Sinkiewicz won a pair of games while working 40.1 frames and senior Matt Sokolowski scored a win in 25.2 innings
