MEXICO - Former Major Leaguer and University of Arkansas star Kit Pellow captured the Mexican Baseball League Triple Crown this past season after hitting .385 with 34 home runs and 107 RBI for the Saltillo Saraperos. He became only the seventh player in league history to accomplish the feat.

The right-handed hitting first baseman turned in a record-breaking campaign that included 144 hits, 27 doubles, 273 total bases, a .459 on base percentage and a .730 slugging percentage. He also drew 49 walks while striking out only 64 times in 374 at-bats.

A 22nd round selection of the Kansas City Royals in the 1996 MLB amateur draft, the Kansas City native was a Pacific Coast League Post-Season All-Star in 1999, and was also named a Topps Triple-A All-Star that same year. The 34-year-old slugger reached the “show” two weeks prior to his 29th birthday in 2002.

Pellows played in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) in Taiwan with the La New Bears last season before signing as a free agent with Saltillo. He has also competed for Yaquis de Ciudad Obregón in the Mexican Pacific League.
