Brad Kirsch and Mattias Stenis combined on a two-hit shutout and the Rattvik Butchers pounded the Alby Stars 17-1 last Friday to sweep the doubleheader and remain atop the standings in Swedish Baseball League action.
The Butchers took the opening game 7-4 as Peter Jansson scattered seven hits and two runs over seven innings to even his record at 2-2.
Rattvik broke a 1-1 tie with a four-run second to grab a 5-1 lead and added a pair of late scores to
seal the win. Eunique Johnson went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple for the Swedish League leaders.
The Butchers (11-3), who captured the second division title a year ago, continued their march towards a first division championship with a good old fashion romp over the Stars scoring 13 runs over the first three innings to put the game out of reach early.
Johnson continued swinging a hot bat going 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a pair of runs scored. Fredrik Hansson had two hits and three RBIs while Peter Jansson and Emil Hansson each chipped in two hits.
Kirsh picked up the win to improve to 2-0 allowing just one hit while Stenis tossed four innings out of the bullpen giving up a lone run on one hit with seven strikeouts. Alby starter Ramon Illa (1-3) was charged with the loss.
