Union Kufstein Battle Vienna Metrostars

A pair of mid-season showdowns highlight the action this weekend in the Austrian Baseball League (ABL).

League-leading Union Kufstein will be on the road on Saturday to meet the Vienna Metrostars in a key matchup. The Vikings (11-3) were knocked off twice by the Superfund Wanderers last week while the Metrostars (7-3), reigning ABL champions, salvaged a split with the Mosquito Athletics.

The Wanderers, who captured the regular season title a year ago, will travel to Attnang Pucheim on Sunday to battle the Athletics. A sweep by either Superfund (7-4) or Mosquito (7-3) could give that squad sole possession of second place.

In other league action, The Schwarz Tigers (3-9) will host the Linz Bandits (1-11) and the Stock City Cubs (2-7) will be on the road to battle the Dornbirn Indians (3-9).
