CZECH REPUBLIC – Draci Brno slipped past MZLU Express 3-2 in Game 1 of the Czech Baseball League finals last weekend.  Draci leads the best-of-seven series 1 to 0.

Draci won the regular season title with a 25-3 record and disposed of the Ostrava Arrows in the first round of the playoffs.  MZLU Express finished in second place with a 20-8 mark and ousted Krc Altron to reach the championship series.

Draci, which is led by ace pitcher Marian  Gajdos (7-1, 1.22), are the favorites to win the title.  But MZLU Express and it’s top hurler – Leos Kubat – dealt Draci a 1-0 setback earlier this season and gave the defending champions all they could handle in Game 1.
